Crossroads – Lenten Sermon Series
We often find ourselves standing at a crossroad. A crossroad is a place where two paths meet going in different directions. A crossroad is a critical juncture in our life where an important decision is made.
The Gospels tell us that “as the time approached for Him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem (Luke 6:51).” At this crucial crossroad, Jesus chose the crossroad. He set His face towards Jerusalem following the road that would soon take Him to the cross.
During Lent this year, we are going to follow Jesus on this sacred journey. We will take a longer, closer look at the different people He encountered on the way to the cross. Many of them were standing at their own crossroads. What critical decisions were they facing? What were they thinking, seeking and desiring? How did their personal decision impact the direction of their life?
Crossroads are inevitable. Many of us are standing at a life-changing crossroad right now. Isn’t it time to learn from Jesus as He followed the crossroad? Can we learn to discern the wise path?
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Jeremiah 6:16
