PCC has been supporting our Covenant missionaries, Gary & Pauline Carlson, in Japan for about 35 years. When PCC was just a young congregation, we knew that supporting global missions was an integral part of who we were and what we were called to do.
Gary and Pauline have been full-time missionaries in Japan since 1983. They have been married for 35 years and have two sons, Adam and Andrew.
Gary is currently serving as the interim senior pastor at Shin Akitsu Church, teaches English Bible Studies as well as missiology (the study of God’s redeeming work in the larger world) at Covenant Seminary in Tokyo.
Pauline assists with ministry at Shonan Community Church, teaches conversational English to older women, and elementary age kids and is on the board of Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ), a school for missionary kids.

COVID Update
During this Covid-19 season, the Shonan Church is only doing online services. The Shin Akitsu Church is mostly elderly folks who do not have the technology for Zoom so songs and devotionals have been mailed to them each week to encourage the members and keep them connected.
As of September 6, they have restarted worship at the Shin Akitsu Church building. They have also been providing a live feed on Zoom for those who can’t or won’t come to the building. Unfortunately, the building’s internet/wifi system broke down so they are waiting to get someone in to repair or replace things to get them back to offering online worship.
Please pray for provision and safety for these wonderful congregations.
